Community Events
Westwind is 185 households, not just 185 driveways. Here's how the board helps neighbors actually meet each other, and get some decluttering done along the way.
Neighbor Meet-Up
Westwind Pizza Night
A casual, no-agenda get-together with free pizza and drinks at the Flower Hill Community Center, just an easy reason to put a face to the name on your neighbor's mailbox. Bring the kids, bring the dog, stay for ten minutes or the whole evening.
The board covers the food; just RSVP to westwindhomeownersassoc@gmail.com with your address and how many are coming so we know how much pizza to order. Flyers go out in English and Spanish ahead of time. See a past flyer for an idea of what to expect.
Watch the newsletter and the home page announcements for the next date.
Community Yard Sale & Bulk Trash Pickup
These two go together on purpose. Sell what you can at the yard sale, then put whatever's left at the curb the following weekend instead of hauling it back inside.
Community Yard Sale
Westwind homeowners hold their sales the same weekend so buyers can treat the whole neighborhood as one big sale, with more traffic for everyone than going it alone. Set up in your own driveway or yard; no registration needed.
Exact dates are announced through the newsletter ahead of each sale, typically one in spring and one in fall.
Bulk Trash Pickup
Whatever didn't sell doesn't have to go back in the garage. Westwind homes don't get county trash service. Each homeowner arranges and pays for their own regular trash pickup. Twice a year, the HOA pays for this extra bulk pickup so you don't have to haul large items to the dump yourself. The board hires a bulk trash vendor for each pickup. The vendor, date and list of accepted items can change from one pickup to the next so check the newsletter and the home page announcements before each one.
Put items at the curb in front of your house the evening before pickup day.
