Holiday season

Decorating for the Holidays? One Rule to Remember

Decorate for any holiday you like. Everything needs to come down within 30 days of the holiday it celebrates. Decorations for December 25 come down by January 24. Keep lights pointed at your own lot. See the Holiday Decorations page for the details.

Planning a Fence or Gate? Read This First

Split-rail fences with an A-frame gate are the only approved style. See the full Fence & Gate Guidelines before you buy materials or hire a contractor.

Lend a Hand

Westwind runs on volunteers. If you'd like to help the Architectural Control Committee (ACC) review exterior modification requests, or help plan Pizza Night, the yard sale or the bulk trash pickup, tell us through the contact page. A few hours a year makes a real difference.

A Few Things That Make Flower Hill, Flower Hill

Longtime resident Sonya Barnette told the Washington Post that "the circle that encompasses the common area is exactly a mile," a favorite of Westwind residents and a draw for walkers from neighboring communities too. Nike Missile Park, one of two parks serving the area, sits on the site of a former Cold War–era Nike missile base. Flower Hill has also been home to NFL players Stefon and Trevon Diggs, who spent their teenage years here.
